Splat World

Splat World is an AR graffiti game where you can tag the world with your art, and leave your mark for other players to see. It is currently 1 year in development, with plans to continue into the summer and re-apply for the Magic Maker Program, which we participated in over the course of Fall 2023.
I am currently Team Leader for this project. I use Trello, TeamGantt, and Discord to coordinate team members, assign tasks, and check in with people. Currently we are working on Splat World through a Production Studio class. My responsibilities other than team orginazation include server-side programming using Node.js, MySQL, the linux command line, Min.IO, some C# gameplay programming, and git. I am also the team's 2D artist, and I make graphic assets, icons, color palettes, and provide art direction for the game.
Latest Project: Bubbles
BubblesBubbles is a social media site designed to be like if Discord statuses was its own standalone application. Someone also compared it to TheSlap.com from the Nickelodeon show Victorious. Bubbles allows you to update your groups of friends about how you’re feeling or whats on your mind. In this project, I used Node.js, Nodemon, Webpack, Gulp, Heroku, React, and the Model-View-Controller structure.

This was an academic group project completed by Kaelyn Beeman, Moss Limpert, Jay'llen Hathman, and Josh Lindsey. It was built using the MonoGame framework, Visual Studio, and C#.
I coded and tested many of the main features including (but not limited to): bullet management, custom data-driven bullet patterns, custom enemy movement, and easily generatable levels. I also was on standby to fix any bad pushes during crunch time. I was the organizational leader of this project and develped the majority of the architecture and code.
FUNGRL
Game Development Document
FUNGRL encapsulates the micro-experiences of transgender people living in quarantine. I wanted to produce a game for individuals with a similar experience to my own who found themselves reinterpreting their identity and relationships under the magnifying glass of isolation.
The game world is overarchingly isolated itself, being a constrained society of fungi people living within the depths of the Earth, many generations after humanity destroyed itself through bio-nuclear war, sterilizing the surface for many generations to come. The individuals of this fungal society are expansive across species and types, and ally themselves with some creatures which escaped the surface doomsday.
The governance of FUNGRL’s underground world resembles the control that Western sexuality and gender ideals have over trans and gay individuals across the world. Giant mycelium networks, grown over the course of the fungal society’s realization, are the omnipotent dictatorial oligarchs controlling all aspects of society, fungal roles, and infrastructure development. Their antiquated view of mating types and gender structurally overlooks the thriving trans and gay fungi community.
Our human society, and this fungal society, share a thriving LGBT community. Unfortunately, when disaster strikes, the community can be shattered as the societal rules close in on a world sheltering in quarantine. My heart goes out to everyone who plays FUNGRL and I empathise with whatever hardships they have faced during the COVID-19 pandemic.
